The 5 Best Lineups in MLB Heading Into the 2026 Season

Offense continues to dominate the modern game, and last season’s numbers prove it. The New York Yankees led baseball with a 119 wRC+ in 2025, but they were hardly alone at the top. Four other teams finished within seven points of that mark, highlighting just how many lineups are capable of producing elite run totals.

An eventful offseason only strengthened that group, as several impact hitters changed teams and reshaped the offensive landscape across the league.

So which teams enter the season with the most dangerous offenses? Here’s a look at the five best lineups in Major League Baseball heading into 2026.

1. Dodgers

2025 wRC+: 113

2026 projected position player fWAR: 35.3 (1st)

Kyle Tucker’s arrival gives the Dodgers a projected position player WAR total that sits 4.1 wins higher than any other team. An already star-studded lineup added another top-20 hitter to its core, more than offsetting any potential age-related decline from Mookie Betts or Freddie Freeman.

There are few weaknesses in this Los Angeles lineup. The only real concerns come on the margins. Teoscar Hernández’s defense in left field remains questionable, and on most teams he would likely serve as a designated hitter. Second base is also the one spot where the Dodgers may not generate much offensive production.

2. Mets

2025 wRC+: 112

2026 projected position player fWAR: 31.5 (2nd)

Sure, the Mets lost Pete Alonso, but they made more than enough of a splash in free agency to upgrade the lineup. Bo Bichette, Marcus Semien, and Jorge Polanco have overhauled the infield, while Luis Robert Jr. adds a higher offensive ceiling in center field.

There’s still plenty of power in the middle of the order with Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, and company. It’s entirely plausible the Mets could finish the season leading the majors in wRC+. The main concern is on the defensive side, particularly with Bichette at third base and Polanco playing out of position.

3. Mariners

2025 wRC+: 113

2026 projected position player fWAR: 29.1 (7th)

Seattle re-signed Josh Naylor to a long-term deal and added Brendan Donovan via trade, giving the lineup a pair of reliable bats. Last year’s major-league experience should serve Cole Young well, while top prospect Colt Emerson is expected to play a significant role in 2026.

The DH spot depends on Dominic Canzone matching last season’s production, though that appears to be a reasonable expectation given the strength of his underlying numbers. Right field remains the softest spot in the lineup, with Victor Robles projected by Steamer for a 94 wRC+.

4. Yankees

2025 wRC+: 119

2026 projected position player fWAR: 30.2 (5th)

Maybe it’s harsh to slot last year’s best offense into fourth place. The Yankees hit 30 more home runs than any other team in 2025 and led the majors with a 10.2 percent walk rate. The supporting cast around Aaron Judge also remains largely intact, with Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger, and Trent Grisham all returning.

Still, the lineup is not without its questions. Four spots are projected for 2.6 fWAR or less, and everyday starters Ryan McMahon, José Caballero, and Austin Wells are all projected to be below league average at the plate.

5. Blue Jays

2025 wRC+: 112

2026 projected position player fWAR: 30.2 (4th)

Toronto was the best offense in baseball from May 1 onward. The Blue Jays posted the lowest strikeout rate in the majors, carried by far the highest batting average, and still managed to rank 10th in home runs over that stretch.

There are still some questions entering the new season. It’s unlikely George Springer repeats the level of production he delivered in 2025. Bo Bichette’s departure also leaves the middle infield looking light on offense, and there’s a wide range of outcomes with Kazuma Okamoto at third base.

The Jays could finish as the best offense in baseball, but there’s also a scenario where they fall outside the top 10.
