We’ve got hitters returning from injury, top prospects getting the call, and another batch of waiver wire options for fantasy baseball managers to sort through this week. So let’s get to it.
Bryce Eldridge
The Giants’ offense has been anemic and is in desperate need of a jolt, so Buster Posey called up Eldridge with the hope he can inject some life into the lineup.
Eldridge posted a 93rd percentile xwOBA in the minors this year. He’s pulling the ball in the air far more than in previous seasons and has shown the ability to do damage against a variety of pitch types.
Andrew Vaughn
Jump at the chance to pick up Vaughn if he’s not rostered in your league. The former top prospect posted a .308/.375/.493 line as a Brewer last season and has recently returned from a hamate injury.
Vaughn’s 12% barrel rate in 2025 was a career high. He’s pulling the ball in the air more often and has also cut down his chase rate significantly.
Braxton Garrett
On his way back from Tommy John surgery, Garrett has posted a 1.71 ERA across five Triple-A starts. Miami is likely to call up one of its Triple-A arms after designating Chris Paddack for assignment, and Garrett’s spot on the 40-man roster probably puts him at the front of the queue.
His slider has looked sharp, and he ranks in the 85th percentile in whiff rate.
Garrett was a valuable fantasy asset in 2022 and 2023 and is worth moving on early with Paddack now out of the picture.
Casey Schmitt
Yes, two hitters from one of MLB’s worst offenses make this week’s waiver wire list. There’s good reason, though, with Casey Schmitt now getting everyday run as the Giants search for offense.
Schmitt owns a .901 OPS and ranks in the 85th percentile in xwOBA and the 91st percentile in barrel rate.
The lack of walks keeps the floor low, but he’s pulling the ball in the air at an elite rate and has dramatically reduced his whiff rate.
Jack Perkins
Looking for a waiver wire closer? Jack Perkins is your guy. Perkins has recorded saves in three of his last four appearances and carries an outrageous 44.6% chase rate, driven by a nasty slider-changeup combination.
The Athletics sit atop the AL West and have a relatively favorable schedule over the next couple of weeks. Perkins has a real chance to rack up fantasy value with a mix of saves and strikeouts.
