UConn vs. Michigan: ATS Pick & Why the Wolverines Will Win the National Championship

It’s a bittersweet day. We get two elite programs battling for a national title, but it also marks the start of a long, seven-month wait for college basketball.

Heading into the final game, we sit at 28-22 for the tournament. Not perfect, but still profitable, and that’s what matters. Let’s finish this run the right way.

No. 2 UConn vs. No. 1 Michigan (-6.5)

These teams have taken very different paths to the title game. Michigan has been dominant, posting an average scoring margin of +21.6 in the tournament compared to UConn’s +8.2.

We’ve seen this level of dominance from Michigan before. At the Players Era Fest earlier this season, the Wolverines ran through San Diego State, Auburn, and Gonzaga by margins of 40, 30, and 40 points. The talent is obvious, and it’s paired with one of the sharpest coaching minds in the sport in Dusty May, who became the fastest coach in program history to reach 50 wins.

Even in the Final Four, Michigan was never seriously threatened. Despite early foul trouble for key players, Arizona never led, and the game felt in control throughout. The Wolverines finished with 36 points in the paint and 26 points off turnovers, overwhelming one of the most complete teams in the country.

UConn presents a different type of challenge. The Huskies are chasing their third title in four years and showed against Illinois that they can stretch the floor, shooting 36% from three. Tarris Reed Jr. continued his strong tournament with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and now faces his former team in a high-stakes matchup.

UConn’s ball movement can create problems, but their margin for error is thin. If the perimeter shots aren’t falling, it’s difficult to see them keeping pace.

That’s where Michigan has a clear edge. The frontcourt trio of Morez Johnson Jr., Aday Mara, and Yaxel Lendeborg, even if not fully healthy, should control the interior on both ends.

Michigan has been the most complete and consistent team in this tournament, and the Big Ten’s quarter-century title drought should finally come to an end. The Wolverines win comfortably.

Pick: Michigan -6.5
